Organic Merino Wool Long Sleeved Baby Body
These simple bodies are lovely and soft and stretchy and will help keep your baby at a comfortable temperature. Fine organically produced merino wool is the perfect fabric for dressing babies all year round; it regulates body temperature, absorbs and wicks away excess moisture and is free from nasty chemicals used to process conventional cotton. Wool needs very little washing and after a day out in the fresh air will come back smelling clean and fresh.
Having 2-3 on a rotation system of wearing one and airing the others between wears will cut down on the amount you need to buy and the amount of washing you need to do! They only need a wash when they no longer smell fresh after airing (you'll be surprised at how infrequently this is).
We suggest sizing up for cloth nappies and hand washing or machine wash on 30 with a specialist wool detergent.
Sizes run small compared to other brands - good for slim babies but size up if in doubt.
The chart below is just a general guide as children grow at different rates and come in all sorts of shapes. Engel bodies are in general, slimmer through the width than other brands although generally the same length-wise. We recommend sizing up for cloth nappies. Repeated machine washing can result in a small amount of shrinkage, so bear this in mind if you wash all your wool in the machine.
WOOL AND WOOL/SILK CARE
Wool and silk/wool do not need as much washing as cotton. These fabrics are repellent to bacterial growth and have amazing self-cleaning properties. Air these garments frequently and you will find they smell fresh for many wears
This should be gently hand washed or machine washed on a 30 deg wool cycle using a specialist detergent for delicate fabrics only.
Wool is very sensitive to both temperature and pH so never use cold water, or a cold rinse after a warm wash as this can 'shock' the wool and cause matting. It's also essential to use a proper wool detergent.
An occasional light lanolin treatment will also prolong the life and help maintain the natural waterproof and dirt resistant qualities. More more information see our washing and care section here
Spread to dry flat away from a direct heat source. They can be hung on the line to dry if they are not too wet (which may cause the garment to stretch out of shape).
For tough stains use gall soap, a powerful natural stain remover which is kind to delicate fabrics. Dab the gall soap on to the stain, leave a few minutes then wash as normal.
